Dollar General signals Hope
Dollar General signals hope.
During the weekend, I had the privilege of going out of town for an event. While on the road driving, we encountered these towns in the middle of nowhere, literally in nowhere. People were living deep in the forest in their mobile homes. We only knew people lived there because we saw the mailboxes.
But some people lived deep in the woods!! And comfortably. Safe haven right? In quiet and tranquillity. I love nature and capturing nature. But this was new to me. I was having a conversation with my Husband and Mom about how insane that was. We went for miles at a time and did not see homes just mailboxes.
One thing that was a constant was seeing Dollar General. In my state, it doesn’t matter if you’re in the middle of nowhere, there was Dollar General. It was an indication that the area would someday flourish.
Now I don’t celebrate over development, pollution and destroying natural habitats. But I do feel that people should have neccessities that are indeed closer to them. There were not many stores for miles on, and these people were miles in the deep and mysterious forest. There should be some type of build and development.
I suppose they enjoyed the peace and quiet. I don’t know. Maybe.
Understand you win some and you lose some. I’ve seen over development. Where the construction industry builds and builds without regards for nature. There is no balance. I understand they have a job to do. But you just don’t see that balance.
I’m glad the people of that small town still have that option.
But what stood out to me was Dollar General. It stood as a glimmer of hope. Hope of what could be. I want to take this time to encourage you. There is still hope for you. God doesn’t want you to give up. In the most dreary places. There is a symbol of hope. It’s not over yet. Greater is coming! Even as you feel that you are nowhere. You’re lost in the darkness. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
